UBC Okanagan’s Doctoral Student Researcher of the Year 2023

Melanie Dickie is a Senior Caribou Ecologist with Biodiversity Pathways. In June 2023, she was recognized as the Doctoral Student Researcher of the Year 2023 at UBC Okanagan for her work on how human land use and climate intersect to influence the abundance of white-tailed deer.

“Dickie’s research explores questions of what management interventions are available, how effective they are, and how they might be prioritized across the landscape to make the biggest impact for caribou,” states the announcement on UBC Okanagan’s website.
